The Miami Dolphins played much better after firing Joe Philbin in large part because defensive endCameron Wake was healthier. He was the most dominant defensive player in the league in Weeks 6-7 after not making any impact in September.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday morning that Wake tore his Achilles during theDolphins‘ 36-7 loss to the New England Patriots and is out for the remainder of the season, per a source informed of the situation.
The team confirmed the MRI results Friday afternoon.
Wake had to be carted to the locker room after suffering an Achilles injury late in the third quarter and he did not return. He had two tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss before leaving the game. After the game, interim coach Dan Campbell said he didn’t know the severity of the injury.
